We are a day early this week. Happy 4th of July to all of you!
The US American flag, also known as Old Glory, is complicated but straightforward. I will not get into the complex portion because it would be lengthy. The US flag is a symbol that means sacrifice and opportunity for most. I think it may be the case under any country's flag, but the US flag is the ultimate symbol of sacrifice and opportunity.
If you’ve never been to the Tomb of the Unkown. I would highly recommend visiting this sacred place. It is the ultimate symbol of what our flag represents. The flag represents sacrifice and opportunity.
Sacrifice: A person who may lay down their life for people they love or will never know so that those people will collectively have a better life. Sacrifice to help other cultures advance where they may be oppressed. Sacrifice, of time, so their family will have a better future opportunistic trajectory than they had.
Opportunity: With sacrifice comes opportunities- agreed-upon laws or rules to achieve the pursuit of happiness. This experiment as it has been called is not perfect in the same way man is not perfect.
Countries in constant civil war, filled with religious hate, and clash of cultures have deprived the advancement of man as a whole. The US flag is a symbol of people who want to pursue their happiness. The world and in life are in constant chaos, as we’ve discussed in a prior newsletter.
A person who has never visited a poorer and/or war-driven country. Most of our worst days in the US are an inconvenience to these chaotic countries in comparison. I know when I returned from a tour in Iraq the first thing I noticed among the populous was the unawareness of potential threats to affect their day-to-day routines.
On this July 4th weekend, I hope you reflect on the sacrifices and opportunities that Old Glory represents. Every citizen bleeds red, white, and blue. The opportunities are plentiful to pursue happiness.
